What a girl sees is a self-centered ego maniac that isn't going to be able to take care of her at all, because he isn't serious about her and doesn't listen to what she has to talk about. A bad relationship prospect.

Another way of saying it is that guys act as if they are very interesting. They figure they have to be interesting for a girl to be interested in them.
